About Me
Throughout my career, I have found myself on the receiving end of leadership coaching, most recently in my role as founder and Head of School for The Montessori School of the Berkshires. The experiences I found most profound were with coaches who helped me to help myself rather than fixing things for me. These coaches helped me to develop my capacity to think differently, to be a more careful observer, and to have greater self-awareness. They guided me in cultivating my access to the intelligence of the body and how it can inform no matter what is going on around us. These experiences allowed me to cultivate relationships that support my learning and development and to practice new behaviors in relationships both safe and challenging. This ongoing and demanding work is valuable in both my personal and professional life, and ultimately, it allows me to engage creatively with complexity – a skill that is crucial in the volatile times in which we live.
My Approach
My coaching is grounded in the Presence-Based® Coaching methodology. In this approach, the focus is on three components: the arc of human development and how that leads towards a greater capacity to stay focused and resilient in the midst of rapid and ambiguous change, a more inclusive care for others, and the capacity to discern and shape the emerging future, even when so much is unknowable. This is achieved by providing a sounding board, offering powerful and precise feedback, evoking leadership presence and awareness, identifying high leverage actions and learning practices, and revealing habits of thought, perception, and action. As a coach, I offer authentic partnership to leaders facing daunting challenges, unknowable futures, and new possibilities.
